Extensive Capabilities

Switzer offers built-in efficiencies and a wide variety of board level shielding options to deliver expert frequency control while saving time and money.

Features

  • Multiple shields can be etched simultaneously with perimeter, part identification labels, and hole features for heat dissipation/better frequency control.
  • Half-etched bend lines facilitate forming of shields without hard tooling investment.
  • Fastened plated and finished as needed. Consolidated operations shorten lead time.
  • Resonator Tabs

Types

Switzer offers the following board level shielding options:
  • Two-Piece Fence & Removable Lid Designs
    – Clip or dimpled closure methods
    – Segmented enclosures
    – Spot Weld or soldered corners
  • Single Piece: Surface Mount & Pin Mount
  • Low Profile
  • Screen Shields

Complementary Components

Our options extend far beyond standard shielding. Switzer offers an array of complementary components to support your assemblies. Our consolidated supply chain supports in-house manufacturing of all microwave-related components, so that you can streamline your vendor base and production cycle.

Types

  • Isolators & Circulators
  • Leads
  • Resonator Tabs
  • Striplines
  • Connector Shims
  • Antennas
  • Trimmer & Tuning Blades

Our process is exceedingly precise, and our team is knowledgeable about industry regulations. We will work with you to ensure your component allows your finished product to comply with standards. The first step is a finished component that meets the exact specifications of your design. Our process is unmatched in precision.

Features

  • Tolerances as low as 10% of material thickness
  • Metal thickness range from .001”- .125″
  • Outside corner radius are equal to 20% material thickness
  • Controlled depth etch features (Bend lines, part identifiers, etc) typically up to 50% thickness within +/- .001”
  • Etching is a burr-free and stress-free process. Stamping and machining impart thermal and mechanical stresses to parts, and the function of some parts require that these stresses are not present. Etched parts are also flatter for this reason.

We are able to create your component out of a number of practical and durable metals, including stainless steel, copper alloys, and aluminum. Our experts can help you determine the right material.

  • 300 & 400 series stainless steel
  • Cold-rolled steel
  • Copper
  • Beryllium Copper
  • Nickel Silver
  • Phosphor Bronze
  • Aluminum
  • Invar
  • Kovar
  • Nickel
  • Cupro Nickel
  • Brass

Improve your component performance with custom coatings. Our capabilities are extensive, and our commitment to precision means each part will meet our high standards for finishing quality. NADCAP plating available if requested.

  • Silver plate
  • Teflon™
  • Electroless Nickel
  • Tin-lead
  • Chromate conversion
  • Gold plating
  • Passivation

How Exactly EMI/RFI Shielding Manages Interference
