Customized Openings

When every particle counts, Switzer can help you optimize your yield through customized openings. We understand that micro screens aren’t one-size-fits-all, and that includes the shape, size and configuration of the holes. Our variable configurations are virtually limitless — we can create exactly what you need to minimize loss.

Configured for Your Machinery

  • Your custom micro screens need to work with your existing machinery and equipment. Our capabilities make that a guarantee.

Edge Configuration

  • Sharp, burrless edges produce less dust, and the angle of entry impacts the yield. We understand these nuances, and optimize for your exact needs.

Custom Features

  • From variable configurations to size to shape to slope, every aspect of your features impacts yield. We leave no path unexplored.

Dependable Structure

You need a screen that was built to last. Our process allows for single piece designs that do more for longer, allowing you to maximize your production without limitations. Simply put, our micro screens are stronger, more durable and more rigid than alternatives like wire mesh, which means higher yield and less downtime.

Strength

  • Our single piece micro screens can withstand higher flow pressure than alternatives, and that means higher volume production in less time.

Durability

  • Nothing slows down production quite like halting the process to change out the screens. Our screens last longer because we engineer them to.

Rigidity

  • Maintaining dimensional stability under pressure allows for consistent particle dispersion and maximized production. Our screens maintain their dimensions even under high flow pressure.

Reduced Blinding

Whether you’re working with expensive pharmaceutical products, food products prone to bacteria, or any other high-volume product, excessive blinding can quickly get expensive. Our process has solved this problem. We’re able to customize features to drastically reduce blinding over the lifecycle of your component.

Single-Piece Design

  • With no burrs, overlap, traps, or hidden spaces, there’s simply nowhere for product to build up. When it comes to blinding, our products easily outperform mesh or woven screens.

Variable Hole Design

  • Conical holes can significantly increase flow rate and reduce buildup and blockage. We can work with you to design the precise hole shape needed for your circumstances.

Optimal Land Area

  • Whether your filtration needs demand greater land surface or minimal land surface, we can create exactly what you need.

Our process is exceedingly precise, and our team is knowledgable about industry regulations. We will work with you to ensure your component allows your finished product to comply with standards. The first step is a finished component that meets the exact specifications of your design. Our process is unmatched in precision.

Learn more about the ways we’ve helped our customers achieve their exact goals and improve performance.
"As you probably have imagined, all went well with the parts made for us, and one of the grids is now installed in our running DS-50 detector, buried inside a large fluid tank at the Gran Sasso underground laboratory and filled with liquid argon! We are designing the larger experiment of this kind, and will need larger grids. We will be in contact in the not-so-distant future."

Project Overview

UMASS was completing their DarkSide-50 project designed to identify dark matter signals and needed an exceedingly durable but very thin metal grid to achieve their goals. These grids were extremely delicate, and required specific handling and shipping to perform as needed. Switzer’s photochemical etching process was the clear answer, contributing a key asset to the success of the project.
