The Surface Mount Technology Association brings together electronics manufacturers, equipment suppliers, material suppliers, and industry professionals focused on surface mount assembly, electronics packaging, and advanced assembly technologies that enable modern electronics manufacturing. SMTA organizes technical conferences, seminars, and symposia covering soldering processes, component attachment, inspection technologies, and reliability testing, publishes technical papers and presentations advancing industry knowledge of assembly processes and quality requirements, facilitates local chapters providing regional networking and educational opportunities, and maintains technical committees addressing specific challenges in areas including lead-free soldering, component miniaturization, and emerging packaging technologies. The association also supports workforce development through scholarships, student chapters, and educational partnerships preparing the next generation of electronics manufacturing professionals.
