Expertise Across Industries

Customizable Design

Our manufacturing process creates endless opportunities for customization. We’re able to work with a variety of metal sizes and thicknesses and create variable hole configurations and designs, ensuring your advanced processes have the advanced components they demand.

Even Distribution

  • Even distribution of gas particles is crucial. The right hole configuration can reduce slow-downs and eliminate dead zones. Our process allows for variable hole and land configurations that stamping and punching cannot match.

Material Flexibility

  • Our process works on thicker metal than stamping or punching can achieve, and a thicker foundation means better support and a longer component lifeline. We’re also able to create complex opening designs on thin metal without compromising the integrity of the screen.

Reduced Pressure Drop

  • Because our process allows for highly customizable designs, you can engineer a design better suited to your needs when it comes to material thickness, durability, and flow rate without having to rely on a multi-screen system.

Flexible and Scalable Production

Our process scales seamlessly from prototype through production. Our engineering team will work with you to develop a manufacturable screen for prototype and pre-production, and when you are ready to scale up, you can rest easy knowing you can expect the same exact product in production volumes as you successfully tested at lower volumes.

Low-Cost Tooling

  • Our low-cost tooling allows you to test multiple designs quickly and efficiently in order to help determine the optimized design for your electrolysis stack. This gives you the flexibility to continue improving your own process indefinitely.

Rapid Prototyping

  • Different prototype designs can be produced quickly to meet your internal timelines and get to market faster. As you scale, tweaks to the design can continue at low cost and fast speed.

Full Stack Provider

  • Our capabilities include everything you need outside of membranes and converters. We’ll work with you to produce all the components you need and assemble your stacks prior to delivery.

Learn more about the ways we’ve helped our customers achieve their exact goals and improve performance.
"As you probably have imagined, all went well with the parts made for us, and one of the grids is now installed in our running DS-50 detector, buried inside a large fluid tank at the Gran Sasso underground laboratory and filled with liquid argon! We are designing the larger experiment of this kind, and will need larger grids. We will be in contact in the not-so-distant future."

Project Overview

UMASS was completing their DarkSide-50 project designed to identify dark matter signals and needed an exceedingly durable but very thin metal grid to achieve their goals. These grids were extremely delicate, and required specific handling and shipping to perform as needed. Switzer’s photochemical etching process was the clear answer, contributing a key asset to the success of the project.
