Accounting Assistant


Accounting assistant who is responsible for maintaining the performance of all accounting and payroll functions. Responsibilities include compiling and maintaining all Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable records; determining Vendor payment schedule and processing payments according to such; tracking and following up on delinquent receivable accounts; and processing and transmitting weekly payroll numbers.

Job Responsibilities/Qualifications:

  • Audit all Vendor invoices, match with received pack slips and Company Purchase Orders and record in accounting database.
  • Determine A/P schedule and prepare payments.
  • Print all A/P reports. Maintain all A/P records. 
  • Analyze Vendor accounts and negotiate extended terms when necessary.
  • Prepare and mail customer invoices.
  • Record receipts and update A/R ledger by customer. Maintain cash book daily.
  • Follow up with customers with regard to delinquent customer accounts.
  • Process RMAs and other credits as required.
  • Print all A/R reports. Maintain all A/R records.
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations as well as assist in month and year end closes.
  • Prepare daily cash deposits.
  • An active participate in one-on-one coaching, team meetings, and plant meetings.
  • Utilizes Corrective Action process and documentation to assist in continually improving our processes. 
  • Cross trains to maintain A/P focused skills.


  • Candidates should have Associates degree in an accounting field or a combination of 4 years previous work experience and/or education.
  • Required skills are an understanding of accounting principles; good communication skills; general business knowledge; computer proficiency including spreadsheets and databases; math and problem-solving skills; and the ability to multi-task.


  • Preferred attributes include detail-oriented, determined, organized, personally accountable, organized, team-oriented and coachable.
